TABANO Art Collective

TABANO Art Collective is a community of artists and curators that seek to comment on the social, cultural, and political situation of Honduras and the region. The collective creates confrontational works that evoke public awareness and reflect on the discrepancies and injustices in which the population lives. TABANO seeks to address the ongoing corruption and its impact on society.

Festival Yeca by TABANO was a set of art actions that took place in public spaces, whether they were performative, installations or interventions, which discussed absence, violence, and memory. In a context riddled with systematic transgression exercised by power, Festival Yeca aimed to reappropriate and reactivate, “public” spaces and give them new significance. Festival Yeca was the project that won the Pakas grant 2021.

Julia Galeano has been a member of TABANO since 2020.
